Saline or Silicone Gel Implants

The first and one of the more exciting aspects of breast augmentation is considering which type of implant you’d like to have. The two main types of implants we offer are saline-filled implants and silicone gel implants. Both of these have great benefits for improving the overall look and size of your breasts. However, there are some subtle differences between the two and their benefits. Saline implants require a smaller incision to apply, can be adjusted slightly after they have been implemented, and are easier to handle in the case of a rupture. Meanwhile, saline implants provide a more natural look and feel, remain firmer & unwrinkled, and tend to last longer overall. In the case of a rupture, both are body safe, though saline implants are easier as the saline solution is easily absorbed and processed by the body whereas the silicone gel will have to be removed.

Recovery Time

It's important to understand that this is still an invasive procedure that comes with a substantial recovery time. At a minimum, you will need extensive rest and time to relax for two weeks after your procedure. During this time you should not be bending over, lifting items, or going without a supportive garment for your breasts. From there it will be between three and six weeks after the procedure that you will be able to return to light physical activity and potentially work.

Results

For getting through that extensive recovery time you get newfound breasts that look how you want them to. While the implants have a very slim chance of rupturing, this is not common and these implants typically last anywhere from a decade before any kind of work will be needed again.
